WEARING OF FACEMASK: DOUALA, YAOUNDE A CHOICE ELSEWHERE COMPULSORY.

Rondpoint Deido  As I recently walk down the streets of Douala, the economic Capital of Cameroon with my facemask on, I pondered if I was still in Cameroon where the wearing of face marks became compulsory after cases of the Corona Virus kept heightening in the Country. Not wanting to conclude on this, I decided to moved to some popular spots in the town of the good, the bad and the ugly. While on the bike from Bonaberi moving the city, I asked the Bike rider "where is your facemask?"   He answered.   "Wearing a Facemask here in Douala is a choice."   Being so inquisitive ,  I ask again. "Are you not afraid of the corona Virus?" This was the answer I got from him. "Which Corona Virus are you talking about, are you sure there is Corona Virus in this country, the government is playing games, if this is the same Corona virus we saw on the media killing thousands of people in China, Italy, Spain, England, United States of America and other countries

Saturday July 25, 2020 will forever remain inscribed in the heart of the elderly persons living in the Ntakekah neighborhood in Nkwen, Bamenda III Sub-division as the Non-Governmental Organization Refugee Welfare Association Cameroon, REWAC came to their aid providing foodstuffs and cooking equipment. CCMN NW MEMBERS CHALLENGED TO BE JOURNALIST OF INTEGRITY.

CCMN NW Members  The Cameroon Community Media Network, CCMN North West chapter has been challenged to uphold the journalism of integrity as Peace Journalists while carrying out their duties. The call was made by the National Peace Coordinator for the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon the Rev Nta William on Friday July 24, 2020 at Church Center Mankon, Bamenda as he launched the second phase of the Peace Journalism and Conflict Transformation Project with a focus on Humanitarian Reporting. Mayor Bamenda II  The Bamenda II council under the leadership of Mayor Peter Chenwi has scored a positive mark in the execution of projects earmarked for the council area for this 2020 financial year. This was made known during the 2020 Mid-Year Evaluation Session of the council that took place on Wednesday July 22, 2020 at the Bamenda II Divisional Office hall which had in attendance the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam Simon Emile Mooh, first and second deputy Mayors and councilors of the municipality. COVID-19 : NORTH WEST REGION RECEIVES HEALTH EQUIPMENT WORTH FCFA 500 MILLION

Health equipment worth FCFA 500million  Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique has challenged stakeholders of the North West Region to revamp the battle against Covid-19 especially the Chief town Bamenda. The Governor was speaking on Tuesday July 21, 2020 as he presided at the ceremony to hand over Covid-19 relief equipment’s worth 500million CFA Francs donated by the Head of State President Paul Biya to the regional hospital and some district hospitals in the Region. Governor handing over the equipment In his key note address, Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique underscored the love and concern the Head of State has for the population of the North West Region, reasons for coming to the rescue of those under his care by joining the fight against the dreaded corona virus. COVID-19 FIGHT: REWAC STANDS WITH ELDERLY PERSONS, PROVIDES FOODSTUFFS

REWAC and Recepients The Refugee Welfare Association dubbed REWAC has on Saturday July 18, 2020 at the Full Gospel Mission Cameroon House of Grace Bayelle, in partnership with the AVAAZ funded project supported some elderly persons, widows and family heads affected by the coronavirus in the Bamenda III Subdivision. Item distributed As the cases of the virus keep surging with elderly persons vulnerable in the midst of contracting the disease, some of them have resulted to personal quarantine leaving them with little or no food to eat and also proper hygiene. Medics have confirmed that elderly people are facing the most threats and challenges at this time of the pandemic. Officials and participants at the forum Young persons in search of job opportunities in the North West Region have been advised to contact the National Employment Fund which provides assistance in drafting business plans and earmarking sectors with job potentials. This was during a forum in Bamenda on Wednesday July 15, 2020 organized by the Regional Delegation of Employment and Vocational Training, were job seekers were presented with employment avenues in the field of agriculture and other sectors. Media practitioners at the workshop The Community Initiative for Sustainable Development, COMINSUD has in a workshop on June 4, 2020 familiarized media practitioners with the combat against Gender Based Violence as well as how to get across information to the masses relating to the coronavirus disease. The workshop which brought together 25 participants, comprised of Journalists of radio stations, bloggers and national language broadcasters who were enlightened on how to improve on the information disseminated on the existence and importance of the referral pathway such that community members make use and seek proximity services as well as the propagation of the information in the referral pathway and messages for Covid-19 prevention.
