"AWING-PINYIN" OPERATION: MILLITARY PUSHES SEPARATIST FIGHTERS, LIMIT FEAR ALONG BAMENDA-BABAJOU ROAD.

The recent burning of a truck belonging to Brasserie du Cameroon, on the 4th of July 2020, An attack on a police van killing one police officer, leaving five others wounded in Santa Subdivision, the attack on the Gendemerie brigade in Bamendakwe, this and many other atrocities perpetrated by armed  Separatist fighters, motivated the Commander of the 5th military Region Brigadier General Nka Valere to despatched 450 soldiers on the field, headed by the Commander of the 51st infantry motorise Brigade, Colonel Matiang Charles Alain, with the main aim of putting an end to the activities of the armed Separatist fighters.

"After my installation as the Commander of the 5th military Region, one of the priority was to secure the road Babajou-Bamenda, that is why we organise this operation around the localities bordering the road" said General Nka.

poolJust like in previous occasions, Brigadier General Nka Valere on Sunday July 19, 2020 was in Santa Subdivision to evaluate the work done. while in Santa, the head of the operation Colonel Matiang Charles Alain briefed the General and his entourage on the 5 days outing that took them to Awing, Alateneng, Baba ll, Mantum, Pinyin, Bawock and Bamendankwe.

According to the Colonel, Camps belonging to the armed Separatist fighters were destroyed with 15 of them neutralized including the dreaded "General Okoro". While "General Bush" was arrested.
Materials used in the fabrication of improvise explosive devises, Guns, Motorbikes, Generators, containers of illicit fuel, some 22 cows belonging to Senator Achidi Achu amonngst other materials were recovered during the operation.

The Commander of the 5th military Region Brigadier General Nka Valere also called on the population to collaborate with the arm forces so as to bring back peace in the area.

With this recent operation, code named "Awing-Pinyin", the population plying the Bamenda-Babajou stretch of road to can now do so with little or no fear, apart from the dificult nature of the road.
