CCMN NW Members

The Cameroon Community Media Network, CCMN North West chapter has been challenged to uphold the journalism of integrity as Peace Journalists while carrying out their duties.

The call was made by the National Peace Coordinator for the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon the Rev Nta William on Friday July 24, 2020 at Church Center Mankon, Bamenda as he launched the second phase of the Peace Journalism and Conflict Transformation Project with a focus on Humanitarian Reporting.

While launching the second phase of the project in the North West region, Rev Nta William called on the North West chapter members to join hands to uphold peace and form a good team to better the country as the second phase will get them to reporting on vulnerable, persons with disabilities, and faith of children in a crisis period amongst others.
“Each project has its goal which to us is to deescalate the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West regions to build peace as a culture in Cameroon and we do hope that at the end of this, there would be better outcome which will reflect the output through the indicators and the impact should be felt within the society within Cameroon, that Cameroonians can start building peace and as well change without necessary using violence, when people speak in love and become transformers and not destructive language and that there can be change even in the way journalist report shifting to hope journalism.” Rev Nta elucidated.

The national Peace Coordinator used the occasion to present those who were appointed on May 30, 2020 into the Peace Office of the PCC.
Showering thanks to the PCC and the successful first phase of the project, the CCMN coordinator Rosaline Obah encouraged the collaboration of members during the execution of the second phase of the project which to her comes to fine-tune the strategies of implementation so that the aim of ensuring a peaceful society realized. She reiterated that
“the second phase is targeting another domain which is the humanitarian aspect, a lot of things were done for the first phase which did not really factor in the aspect of the humanitarian action.”

Pertaining to the immediate projects earmarked for the second phase, the regional manager for peace work Keng Juliette underscored that in less than no time, there would be capacity building workshops after which productions will be launched opened for the CCMN members to start producing based on the project as all the necessary equipment’s are ready for the use of members.

The project which spans for two years would have the members act for change to take place rather than just talking.
