BeLA on the field Beacon of Light Association (BeLA) a Non Governmental Organization with the main aim of building safe spaces for all especially  women and girls, on wednesday May 6, 2020 organized a campaign to sensitize the population of Bamenda on Covid -19. Tap bucket donated at PIM Their fist stop was at PMI hospital Nkwen, where the association donated a tap bucket at the entrance to the hospital. While at the hospital nursing mothers and pregnant women were educated on preventive methods to fight against the spread of the  Corona virus. The association also use to the opportunity to encourage female health workers and women care givers reminding them of the need to be protect themselves as they watch over their patients. Volunteers filling up empty buckets  The Government and and some Non Governmental Organisations have provided soap and tap buckets to public places in Bamenda but the scarcity of water remains a big problem for the effective hand washing exercise which is one of the measures to fight against Covid-19. ECUDA enroute to Esu. An initiative of the president general of the Esu Cultural and Development Association (ECUDA) Mr Ndzo Augustine to donate some material to help fight the spread of the Corona Virus has seen the light of day in Esu village, one of the 21 villages that make up the Fungum Subdivision, Menchum Division in the North West Region of Cameroon. ECUDA mobilized for the distributions  The gifts from a freewill solidarity fund contributed by sons and daughters of Esu around the globe, comprised of hand sanitizers, cartons of soap,  tap buckets and a good number of face masks. Materials recovered from Bafut  300 soldiers headed by Colonel Matiang Charles Alain have successfully carried out different operations in Bafut Subdivision one of the stronghole of separatists fighters in the North West Region.  For 6 days the soldiers were able to infiltrate some of the hideout of those who  referred to themselves as "Ambazonia fighters" Brigadier General Nka Valere  To access the operations, the Commander of the 5th Military Region, Brigadier General Nka Valere and the Commander of the 5th Gendarmerie Region, Brigadier General Ekongwese Divine alongside other top military officials in the Region were on the field on Friday May 1, 2020. Bamenda central prison van With the advent of the Corona Virus Pandemic, some prisoners in Cameroon have been released on the instructions of the Head of state Paul Biya. Friday April 24, 2020, will remain a Joyful day to be remembered by some inmates across the North West Region who benefited from the decision of the head of state Paul Biya to decongest prisons in Cameroon in order to limit the spread of the corona virus.  In Nkambe 31 inmates were released, 18 in Fundong, 17 in Kumbo, 11 in wum, 4 in Mbengwi and 138 at the Bamenda central prison regained their freedom, here the procureur General of the Apeal court in Bamenda Justice Albert Njie Nganje advised the released inmates to be responsible and not to get involve in any act that might bring them back into the prison.
