NORTH WEST REGION: 219 PRISONERS SET FREE

With the advent of the Corona Virus Pandemic, some prisoners in Cameroon have been released on the instructions of the Head of state Paul Biya.

Friday April 24, 2020, will remain a Joyful day to be remembered by some inmates across the North West Region who benefited from the decision of the head of state Paul Biya to decongest prisons in Cameroon in order to limit the spread of the corona virus.
 In Nkambe 31 inmates were released, 18 in Fundong, 17 in Kumbo, 11 in wum, 4 in Mbengwi and 138 at the Bamenda central prison regained their freedom, here the procureur General of the Apeal court in Bamenda Justice Albert Njie Nganje advised the released inmates to be responsible and not to get involve in any act that might bring them back into the prison.

Before the reunion with their respective families, each of the released inmates underwent a Covid-19 preliminary medical test. They were equally advised  to respect  the measures put in place by the Government of Cameroon and the World Health Organization in order to stay safe from the Corona Virus.

This marks the first phase of  released inmates in the North West Region, the second phase will be in the days ahead.

  1. This is a very loudable initiative but it's coming too late according to the factual evidence of Convid-19 on ground. On what criteria are some inmates released why others Left to wallow in pain? With feferencre to our World it would have been done much earlier.
