TUBAH: ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGN

A Road Safety Campaign has been launched on the Bambui-Bambili stretch of road headed by the Divisional Office of the Tubah Municipality Massango Metougue Narcisse.
    
On Wednesday November 1, 2023, during the second day of  the exercise, the Divisional Officer, and the Mezam Divisional Delegate of Transport along a team of Road safety experts each took time to sensitize drivers and passengers on road safety measures, focusing on execissive speed and the wearing of seatbelts.

The road users were also advised to always be in possession of their National Identity Cards including their car documents while on the road as well as making sure their Cars are in good shape.

According to the Divisional Delegate of transport, some vehicles were noticed with seatbelts that are not functioning alongside cars with deplorable conditions which were overloaded. He warned that such vehicles and the Violators will be brought to book.

Speaking with some Commercial taxi drivers on this stretch, their complaints were about the Presence of many security checkpoints found from Bamenda to the Municipality of Tubah. According to the drivers these security checkpoints extort money from them, hence, in a beat to meet up with their daily targets, the drivers turn to carry more passengers and goods more than what is required.

  Other drivers complained about the lack of  farm-to-market roads, saying only few car access many cars and so, the few that can use such roads, tend to overload  their vehicles with farm produce.



The Division Officer, after getting the complaints of the nonavailability of speed brakes  on the bambui-bambili stretch, assured Charged the Tubah council to provide speed brakes on the road.

Apart from the University of Bamenda, this road connects the head quarter of the Northwest Region Bamenda to three Divisions, Making it one of the the most busy stretch of road within North West Region.
