ANOTHER SIX MONTHS, NO STADIUM IN BAMENDA

When works were launched in April 2016 at the Bamenda Municipal Stadium, the President of the Cameroon Football Federation at the time Tombi Aroko Sidiki said works will be completed at the site within a period of  Six months. 

Ten Months later, during the presentation in Bamenda of the AFCON trophy won by the indomitable Lions of Cameroon in Gabon, Tombi again gave an additional 6months for the Stadium to see the light of day. This April marks 7 years since work were launched in the Stadium.

When Mbigha Felix Ngah was elected as the President of FECAFOOT North West in November 27,2018, his first words were on making sure that the Bamenda Municipal Stadium is delivered, he also gave a period of 6 Months. 

"I will becoming to the press to tell them what I've done for the Region, I started doing something about the stadium even before this election. That will be my first project, am giving the press 6months and they will see what will be done on that stadium" 

Since then he has been giving similar promises without any result on the ground. After his reelection on November 1, 2021 the North West President Promises to carry the fight for Bamenda to have a Stadium at the National Office.

Samuel Eto'o, National President - FECAFOOT 

Samuel Eto'o was elected as National President of The Cameroon football federation with a huge support from the North West delegations at the National Elective General Assembly, from all indication the North West delegates unanimously supporter and voted Eto'o with the Condition that Bamenda will atleast have a Stadium were the modern football brought by the regime of Samuel Eto'o.

In February 2022 hopes were highten as team headed by former footballer Maboang Kessack came to Bamenda with the assurance that something will be done for the Bamenda Municipal Stadium to be completed, 13 months after the stadium is still in the dark.

In November 2021, the Prime Minister, Head of Government visited Bamenda, while at the Commercial Avenue he expressed the will for the Bamenda Municipal Stadium to be completed, according to him the stadium had been a connecting point for youths in the Region. He promised to do everything in his power for the stadium to be delivered.

Fans took the campaign for Bamenda to have a Stadium in Yaounde during the Cup of Cameroon finals between Pwd Social Football Club of Bamenda and Astre of Douala, here the fans carrier placards indicating the need for Bamenda to have a Stadium, this again attracted the interest of Samuel Eto'o, president of FECAFOOT who on his WhatsApp Status actually expressed the need to start with Bamenda.

During one of his outings, Samuel Eto'o Promised to construct proximity stadia across the country, Bamenda again was on the spotlight as he announced that the first will be constructed in Bamenda.

On the November 5, 2022 works on the proximity stadium were launched at Ntaafi and the North West FECAFOOT president announced that works will be completed within a period of  3 Months, however on the eve of the delivery date, the President said that the project had some short comings and that the project delivery date will be extended and another 3 months was given making a total of 6months and we are at the sixth months and the proximity stadium is yet to see the light of day.

All this is happening at a time when our elite one clubs are playing their home games away from home and this has great play down on these clubs who lack home support, who also cannot benefit anything from get taking.

The two Elite one clubs are presently battling with relegation and fans are already pointing fingers on the Stakeholders of football in the Region who failed to provide Bamenda with atleast a stadium.

PWD in Bafoussam 

PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda have failed on a role at the international scene, with the effect of playing their home International matches aways from home, according to fans things would have been different if those games were been played in Bamenda.

As the movie enrolled, we keep on watching to see how things will change in the favour of Football in the North West Region.
