UBa GRADUATES OVER 1000 TEACHERS, SHOWER PRAISES TO UBa E-LEARNING PLATFORM.

The first phase marking the 11th Convocation of the University of Bamenda has taken place on the University Campus in Bambili with over 1000 students graduating from the HTTC and HTTTC.

Chairing the convocation ceremony on Saturday October 16, 2021 meant for graduating students of Higer Teacher Training College and Higher Technical Teacher Training College of the University of Bamenda at the school restaurant, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Theresia Nkou-Akenji while seating in for the Chancellor of the Academic orders and visitor to the University of Bamenda Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo, called on the new Secondary school teachers from both Colleges be ambassadors of the University of Bamenda wherever they will be posted while keeping the core values acquired during their professional training.

It is worth mentioning that, the University of Bamenda two years ago introduced the UBa E-Learning which permitted students to learn online while limiting face-to-face learning. Despite the challenges that came alongside this new form of study, the Vice Chancellor says the quality of the students graduating is proof that the UBa E-Learning Platform is a success.

"Thanks to the UBa E-Learning which fully when operational last year, we were able to successfully ran the 2020/2021 school year to completion despite the security and health challenges."
Said the VC.

According the Vice Chancellor Prof. Theresia Nkou-Akenji, the E-learning platform has come to stay Given that Ministry of Higher has set up the University Digital Development Center in all the 8 states Universities which is connected to a central hub, this will permits the University of Bamenda to benefit from the expertise of the other Universities and vise versa.

"The high breed delivery base content has come to stay, the Ministry of higher education has put up strategies to intensify online teaching by setting up the Digital Development Center which are interconnected with all the 8 states Universities. This will permit us gain expertise from the other Universities especially in areas where we are lacking"

After 3years and 2years of studies, the students of both the HTTC and HTTTC in the first and second Circles were awarded Secondary School Teacher Diploma I (DIPES I) and Secondary School Teacher Diploma II (DIPES II) respectively.

The best graduating student, Takor Sharon Mbiaya with a GPA of 3.86 from HTTC, Department of English Modern Letter was highly applauded for her outstanding performance. Best students from all the departments orderly received their diploma from the hands of the Vice Chancellor.

After this first Phase of convocation, the second phase is expected to take place in December 2021 while respecting the prescription measures set aside by the government to fight against the spread of covid-19.
