NORTH WEST: CELEBRATES AFRICAN DECENTRALISATION AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT DAY

The North West Region has commemorated the 10th anniversary of the African Decentralization and local development day.
The celebration brought togther head of services in the North West Region on Tuesday August 10, 2021 under the patronage of Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique who during a round table conference in Bamenda called on the Regional Assembly and the councils to takeover decentralization.

The Regional Delegate for Decentralization and local development, Mbah Mboleh Pius emphasis that the African day of Decentralization and local development is celebrated alongside the 4th edition of the civil status registration and vital statistics day to create awareness and encouraged the population to make good use of the civil status registration by getting the necessary documents, that is birth, marriage and death certificates.
This year's edition of the African Decentralization and local development day is celebrated in Cameroon for the first time under the theme "the contribution of arts, culture and heritage in the sustainable development of African cities and Territories". In line with this theme, the Regional Assembly through the commission for Education, Sport and cultural activities is preparing to fund artists and construct cultural centers in all 34 Subdivisions in the North West Region to promote the arts and cultural heritage thereby reducing Rural-Urban migration.
