9 CAPTIVES SET FREE IN PINYIN, GENERAL NKA DECARES BAMENDA - SANTA - BABAJOU SAFE.

 

The 9 ex-captives

The Defense and Security forces have released 9 hostages after a successful raid on the camps of Seperatist fighters in Pinyin Village, Santa Subdivision, Mezam Division in the North West Region.

 According the Commander of the 5th joint military Region Brigadier General NKA valere, operation on the nights of April 16 and 17,2021 was motivated by social media remour that separatist fighters will block the road from Bamenda to Matazen.

"We had threats that the separatist fighters were preparing to block the main supply road from Babajou, Santa to Bamenda. Apart from the permanent and daily control on this road, we decided to carryout other targeted operations in the outskirts of the road, one of such operations led to the liberation of 9 hostages in pinyin"
. Said Gen. Nka 

 It was all joy and celebration by family members of the 9 former captives on sunday April 18, 2021 at the esplande of the 5th Joint military Region in Bamenda as they were reunited with their love ones. Some of them nerrated their conditions while in the hands of their kidnappers.

"We were put in one dark room, we slept on the floor, if  you felt like to pass out waste, you had no choice but to do it in the same room. When we asked our crime they beat us and said its only after a month that they will tell us and our parents will pay money for our release. I want to talk the military for helping us".
One of the freed captives said. 

Out of the 9, the separatist fighters had chopped off the ear of one, in the effort of forcing him to join them. As he refused, the separatists had numbered his days on earth, promising him that his head will be cut off and placed in the market squared. 

"Dem force say I must join dem, as I denie dem cut my ear beat me, den tell me say next time dem go cut n ma head for market. A want thank military and the big man. As a dey here so ano go go me again for village, i want dey me na with military them, ano want make them kill me".  the man said in pigin.

Since the beginning of the crisis in the North West and South West Regions, the Bamenda - Santa - Babajou stretch of road have come under several attacks perpetrated by separatist fighters, the digging of the road, the burning of cars, destruction of heavy duty Cars and Materials use in the construction of the road and the kiling of civilians and Security forces has brought fear on the road. The Commander of the 5th Military Region Brigadier General NKA Valere has reassured the population of their safety while plying that stretch of road, however he called on the population to be vigilant and should report any suspected art on the road.

 Given that the road is now secured, a good number of drivers using the road says that the company incharge of the contruction should immediately resume works so as to give a new face to the road that connects the North west Region to other parts of the Country.
