NKWEN MILE 4: SDO BLAMES FIRE ON ILLICIT FUEL, MARKET MISTRESS DEBUNKS, SAYS CAUSE OF FIRE STILL TO BE ESTABLISH

A view of the Market 

 Close to 27 makeshift sheds at the Mile 4 Nkwen Park market have been completely razed by fire on the night of Monday February 8, 2021.

According to the market misstress who arrived the scene at 11pm the cause of the fire is still to be established. 

Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam 

She however debunked the declaration by Senoir Divisonal officer for Mezam Simon Emile Mooh who visited the market on Tuesday February 9, and declared that, the fire was as a result of illicit fuel, believe to be in one of the makeshift sheds.

 The SDO immediately placed a banned on the illicit fuel within Mezam Division. This is not the first a banned is placed on the illicit fuel. 

Market Mistress 

 "I am the market Mistress, I don't know where that information is coming from, it is not true. They don't sale fuel in this market, I personally supervise all the shops in this market. As of now we do not know the cause of the fire given that they was no electricity that night"
. Said Mafor Justine, the market Mistress

 In less than two weeks, three improvice explosive devices have successfully exploded at the market, and according to the market Mistress, the fire outbreak could have been as a result of another explosive planted in the market.

A view of foodstuff destroyed by the fire 

The lost can be estimated to be about 100 Million CFA francs given that nothing was recovered from the fire. Those whose shades were burnt have been asked to do an estimate of their lost and present it on Friday February 12, while hoping for compensation. 

Mayor Bamenda III

The mayor of Bamenda lll Municipality where the Market is located, Fonguh Cletus after visiting the site, promised that an ultramodern market will be constructed by the Council and everything is in place for works to begin.
