FOOTBALL: HON. WALLANG RICHARD UNIFIES MENCHUM SOUTH CONSTITUENCY AROUND THE ROUND BALL

Teams preparing to get into the field 

The usual summer holidays football jamboree in Wum central, Menchum Division of the North West Region organized by Hon Wallang Richard, parliamentarian of Menchum South constituency has gone underway in the chief town of Menchum Division. The football competition has proven beyond reasonable doubt that the round inflated material is a unifying factor.

Sunday July 25, 2021 was a playing day like no other at the Wum municipal stadium as fans of the various teams in their respective communities turned out in their numbers to watch the ongoing Unity tournament. Every year during the summer holidays, the youths from the various communities in Wum constitute various teams to compete for the most prestigious trophy donated by the unity oriented parliamentarian, Hon Walland Richard.

Here, the community spirit is felt right in the field of play as everyone from all works of life are part and parcel of the community spirit. The game pitting Atiko fc of the Muslim community and Abonge fc a team constituted of medical personnel and administrators with center referee being a military official was just prove that the unity tournament is indeed a unifying factor.

Speaking to this reporter shortly after the football match, the coordinator Ategha Simon made it clear that 

 "The aim of this competition is to enhance unity. The competition was suspended in 2018 due to the crisis but bounced back after that and since then it has proven to be a unifying competition given the love for the game by the teams and the population."

 The competition already in it's 17th edition has stood the test of time in bringing youths and individuals during every summer holidays to keep them occupied by engaging in sports, football.

The competition which currently has 10 teams began on July 4,2021 and is expected to have it's finals on August 29,2021 so as to permit those going back to school to have few days to prepare. So far since the tournament started, the organizing committee had to ensure they wave out all challenges taking a long back to the 13th edition.

BAFUT SUBDIVISION: SOLDIERS SALUTED FOR JOB WELL DONE.

Materials recovered from Bafut  300 soldiers headed by Colonel Matiang Charles Alain have successfully carried out different operations in Bafut Subdivision one of the stronghole of separatists fighters in the North West Region.  For 6 days the soldiers were able to infiltrate some of the hideout of those who  referred to themselves as "Ambazonia fighters" Brigadier General Nka Valere  To access the operations, the Commander of the 5th Military Region, Brigadier General Nka Valere and the Commander of the 5th Gendarmerie Region, Brigadier General Ekongwese Divine alongside other top military officials in the Region were on the field on Friday May 1, 2020.
